Playa Arco
A secret sanctuary accessible only by nature.
Exclusivity, private caves, and untouched jungle.
Why Visit Playa Arco?
Playa Arco is Uvita’s best-kept secret. It is a small beach with light sands and incredibly calm waters, surrounded by imposing cliffs covered in primary rainforest. Its name comes from a natural stone arch sculpted by the sea, similar to those at Playa Ventanas but in a much more private setting. What makes it special is its difficult access: lacking a public road entrance, it remains a solitary paradise where you are very likely to be the only person on the entire coast. It is the perfect place for those seeking a mystical connection with the Pacific and absolute privacy that no other beach in the area offers.
ACCESS
Extremely limited. It can only be reached by walking along the coast exclusively at low tide (a walk of about 20-30 minutes over rocks) or through the Hotel La Cusinga property (by purchasing a day pass).
Distance
Located approximately 5.5 km from Hotel Uvita Forest. The drive to the starting point of the walk is 12 minutes.
Activities
Exploration of natural caves, swimming in very calm waters (pool-like), primary forest bird watching, and high-level landscape photography.
Services
Zero infrastructure. There is no drinking water, restrooms, or surveillance. It is a protected wilderness area in its purest state.
Hotel Tip:
- Tide Logistics: This is the most critical part. You can only enter and, more importantly, exit when the tide is low. If you are not careful, high tide will block the passage over the rocks, and you would be trapped on the beach until the next cycle. Please consult us at the reception before you go.
Physical Effort: The path over the rocks requires good physical condition and footwear that can get wet but has excellent grip. It is not recommended for very young children or people with reduced mobility.
Preparation: Bring snacks and sufficient hydration, as there is absolutely nothing nearby. It is a half-day expedition.
